Tracing back the history of Tanjung Tuan, it has to relate to the naval battle between Dutch and Portuguese during 1606.
After the fall of Malacca Sultanate, Sultan Alauddin Riayat Shah II established Johor Sultanate. Sultan Alauddin Riayat Shah II is the son of Malacca Sultanate last sultan, Sultan Mahmud Shah.
For recapturing Malacca, Sultan Alauddin Riayat Shah II attacked Malacca frequently. Sultan of Johor also signed allied treaty with Dutch to oppose Portuguese. In 1606, Dutch and Sultan of Johor battled with Portuguese in the sea near Port Dickson.
Portuguese captured Malacca in 1511. A lighthouse was built at Tanjung Tuan to guide the ships passing through Strait of Malacca.
After being colonized by Portuguese, Dutch, British and Japanese, the lighthouse still remained on the hill at Tanjung Tuan.
